The Origin Story

SerRaro was founded on a simple and uncomfortable observation: the technology being built for everyone was working for almost no one.

The founder came to this from two directions at once. The first was personal — watching a parent’s early cognitive decline worsen in the presence of technology designed for engagement, not wellbeing. Algorithms optimized for attention. Apps built to exploit. A digital world that had no room for someone whose mind was changing. The response was Emori — a multilingual device built to preserve memory, protect dignity, and give families the gift of presence across distance.

The second arrived while building. Ideas that slipped away between sessions. Conversations that circled without landing. The experience of doing creative, complex work with a brain that didn’t fit the tools available. The insight wasn’t abstract — it was lived. And it pointed to a second product, a second population, and a company that needed to exist to hold both.

Pat was born from that gap. A device built with intention for adults with ADHD — for the builders, the thinkers, the people whose brains move fast and need something that moves with them.

Two products. Two populations. One conviction: technology should work for the people it touches, especially the ones it has always overlooked.

SerRaro is the company built to hold that conviction.

The Name

SerRaro is a Spanish construction — ser, to be, and raro, strange or different — compressed into a single word. A being that is different. The capital R marks the seam intentionally: it is not decorative, it is structural.

The name also carries the founder’s family name, Serrato, inside it. The compression was not accidental. SerRaro is the company, and the company is the founder’s, and the founder’s name is in the walls.

In Spanish, raro is not an insult. It is a description — and in the right context, a kind of honor. The people SerRaro builds for have spent their lives being told their brains are the problem. This company was named for them, in the language many of them speak, before a single line of code was written.

The Vision

SerRaro exists because the technology industry has consistently built for a narrow definition of normal — and left everyone else to adapt.

The people SerRaro builds for are not edge cases. They are the adult whose mind is changing and deserves dignity, presence, and protection. They are the builder, the thinker, the person whose brain moves differently and needs tools that move with them. They are the family sitting miles away, wanting to help and not knowing how. They are everywhere. They have always been everywhere. The technology built for them has not.

SerRaro builds for people whose brains work differently — with intention, with ethics, and with the conviction that the most overlooked users deserve the most thoughtful technology.

That is the work. It does not end with two products.

Built With Intention

SerRaro was built with Claude, Anthropic’s AI, from the first day. That is not incidental. The tools a company chooses reflect what it believes. We chose a partner whose commitment to safety, ethics, and responsible AI governance is consistent with our own.

These same values shape how we think about data. It is our founding belief that the people who use SerRaro products should own what they share — their memories, their patterns, their daily lives. We build toward that principle in every product decision, every data architecture, and every partnership we enter.

We cannot control every future. What we can do is build so that our values are structural — present in the agreements, the governance, and the architecture — not just the language. That is the commitment SerRaro makes.

The Products

SerRaro’s first two products share a founder, a conviction, and a parent company. They serve different populations and were built for different needs. That is the point.

Emori
Memory • Dignity • Presence

A device built with multilingual capabilities for people with early-stage cognitive decline and their families. It preserves memory, assists in daily life, and gives families the gift of presence across distance. Emori was the first product born from SerRaro’s founding conviction.

Pat
Focus • Capture • Momentum

A device built with intention for adults with ADHD. Designed from the ground up to minimize the distractions of modern technology, Pat captures thoughts without friction and moves with the way its users actually think. Where the phone pulls attention away, Pat brings it back.

Both products are governed by the same principles: user ownership of data, ethics-forward design, and technology that serves the person it touches.

The product briefs for Emori and Pat are maintained as separate living documents.

Founding Principles

These principles govern everything SerRaro builds, every partnership it enters, and every decision it makes. They are not aspirational. They are structural.

We build for the overlooked.

The people SerRaro serves have been failed by technology designed without them in mind. That is not an accident we work around — it is the problem we exist to solve.

We build with intention.

Every tool, every partner, every design choice reflects what we believe. There are no neutral decisions in product development. We make ours deliberately.

We build with ethics at the center.

Safety, governance, and responsible design are not features. They are the foundation. SerRaro does not add ethics later. It builds from them.

We believe in data ownership.

The people who use SerRaro products own what they share. We build toward that principle in every product, every architecture, and every agreement we enter.

We build for trust.

The populations SerRaro serves are among the most vulnerable to exploitation by technology. That is not a reason to be cautious about serving them. It is a reason to be rigorous about how.

We are founder-led by design.

SerRaro is intentionally small, intentionally independent, and intentionally personal. The founder’s name is in the company name. The integrity is not delegated.
